What LowScout does, and what you can say about it
If you make personal-finance content and you are thinking about covering LowScout, this page is the brief: what the product actually does, the claims we would ask you not to make, what we expect from a mention, and how to reach a human.
There is no affiliate programme open to creators and no paid placement today, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. What is here is an open door and a straight description.
What the product actually does
Free: review a statement you already have
Upload a PDF or CSV statement and LowScout finds the charges that repeat, with the transactions behind every number. No bank connection is required, and no card is needed to try it. Upload at least 2 months of statements for a useful review. 3 or more months is recommended for stronger recurring-charge detection.
Plus: $8.99/month, connected and watched
Plus connects up to 2 financial institutions through Plaid (read-only) and keeps watching as new transactions arrive — new recurring charges, price increases, charges that look like they may have ended. There is no annual plan and no free trial.
What it shows you
Your recurring charges with their cadence and typical amount, what is expected in the next 30 days, what changed, and the transactions that support each claim. Every figure traces back to a transaction it can show you.
What it will not do
It does not cancel anything for you and it never contacts a merchant on your behalf — it shows you the charge and how to cancel it. It cannot move money. It never receives your bank username or password, and it never sees your full account or card numbers.
Who it is for
People who suspect they are paying for things they have forgotten, and want to see the list without connecting a bank account to do it. It suits an audience that keeps statements, has a few cards, and would rather check than guess. It is not a budgeting app, it does not track net worth, and it will disappoint anyone looking for one.
Please do not say these
Not legal boilerplate — these are the specific things that would be untrue.
“LowScout cancels your subscriptions for you.”
It does not. It finds the recurring charges and shows you how to cancel; the cancelling is yours.
“LowScout guarantees you’ll save $X a month.”
There is no guaranteed saving and no typical saving we can stand behind. What it reports is what your own statement shows.
“It confirms a subscription was cancelled.”
A charge that does not arrive is not proof that anything was cancelled — the bill may just be late, or the account may bill on a different day. LowScout says a charge has not reappeared; it never calls that a verified cancellation.
“It monitors your accounts on the free plan.”
Watching is the paid capability. Free is reviewing a statement you upload.
“Bank-grade security”, “used by N people”, ratings or certifications.
We do not publish user counts, we hold no certification we could cite, and we would rather you said nothing than something we cannot support.
What we ask
- Try it before you cover it. Upload a statement of your own and say what you actually saw — including where it fell short.
- Disclose any relationship. If we ever send you anything of value, say so plainly in the video or post itself — spoken and on screen in a video, and at the start of a caption, before any "more" cut. A disclosure only in a description, a link in bio, or a hashtag at the end is not enough. This is in line with the FTC endorsement guides and the rules of whichever platform you publish on.
- Use your own screen recordings and your own numbers. Do not use a figure from our marketing as if it were your result.
- Show real data or clearly-labelled sample data. Never present a fabricated finding as something LowScout produced.
- Correct it if we change. If a capability moves — and it will — we would rather you updated the post than left it wrong.
How we would know you sent someone
If we agree on a campaign tag, we can see how many people arrived from a link carrying it and how many of those went on to review a statement. That is a count of visits and sign-ups — never anything about a person, their bank, their balances or their charges. We will tell you the numbers we can see, and we will not invent the ones we cannot.
To be plain about the limit: there is no payout attached to it today. If that changes, it will be written here before it is offered to anyone.
